Abstract

Coronavirus-19 is caused by “Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2” (SARS-CoV-2), COVID-19 pandemic, has led to millions of confirmed cases and deaths worldwide. Efficient diagnostic tools are in high demand, as rapid and specific testing plays an important role in patient management and decelerating disease spread. the current technologies used to detect COVID-19 in clinical laboratories will be classified into main three categories, IThe polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method, IIImmunological or serological methods (Antigen and Antibody Detection), IIIBiochemical and hematological methods which include 1- Inflammatory biomarkers (Elevated and decreased group), 2.Multi-organ damage/failure (Cardiac, Hepatic, and Renal).

Abstract

DNA isolation is the first step for most molecular tests, thus indicating the importance of using a reliable and suitable method for this procedure. The use of magnetic nanoparticles for blood DNA isolation offers several advantages including: subjecting little mechanical stress to your sample, obtaining higher quality and quantity of DNA and non-laborious procedures. In this study, we isolate genomic DNA using gelatin-coated magnetic nanoparticles from blood samples and test its use compare with three commercial blood DNA isolation kits.  DNA purity and yield were assessed by measuring absorbance at A260/A280 and by agarose gel electrophoresis. The suitability of the isolated DNA for downstream applications was analyzed by end-point PCR and Sanger sequencing. In this study, gelatin-coated magnetite particles for genomic DNA isolation provide an efficient, simple, and inexpensive method that does not require the use of commercial blood DNA Isolation Kit.

Vol.1 No.2 -4 : Microbiological and molecular studies on Salmonella spp. isolated from broilers in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate, Egypt.

By : Mohamed T. Shaaban 1, Hegazy , A.M 2,Sami I.Menisy 3

Abstract

Prevalence of Salmonella pathogen in poultry in Kafr El – Sheikh governorate, Egypt were analyzed in 100 pooled samples from poultry (liver, spleen , cloacal swab, gall bladder ), using culture and PCR based methods. The results showed that S. enteric was detected in 10 samples (10%), S. enterica serovar Enteritidis , S. enterica serovars Typhimurium and non-typable serovars were detected in 4(40%) , 2(20%) and 4(40%) respectively . All isolates were multi-drug resistant .Also, all isolates had drug resistant genes except for only one isolate was S. enterica serovar Enteritidis . No integrons were detected.
